What to know
Arcanaut’s Old Original uses Fordite, the layered automotive paint also nicknamed Motor City Agate. This is an industrial by-product rather than a geological stone: successive deposits of paint cure into a solid block that can be cut and polished. James “Black Badger” Thompson works the material to reveal the dial’s intricate coloured contours.

Old Original belongs to the cross-cut Groovy type within the Fordite collection, with each finished dial unique. The current configuration programme offers 37 mm and 40.5 mm case options, powered by a La Joux-Perret G101 automatic movement with a 68-hour reserve. Water resistance is 100 metres, and the watch is assembled to order in Copenhagen.
