What to know
CIGA Design’s new Time Cipher Gold uses strong contrast to explain an unfamiliar way of reading time. A gold-toned arm traces the minutes while carrying a rotating hour disc over a black dial. The brand says the dial absorbs 99.4 per cent of incoming light, giving the mechanism a suspended appearance.

The CD-08 automatic movement is based on Miyota’s 9000-series architecture and has a stated 40-hour reserve. The black-plated steel case is 11.8mm thick, with a sapphire crystal and 50-metre water resistance. A black fluororubber strap completes the watch. CIGA lists the Gold edition at US$899; Fratello reports €949 including VAT.
