The analysis
The CWC Navy Eighty CD-1 brings ceramic and applied dial furniture to a familiar military-derived silhouette. Its polished stainless-steel case follows CWC’s 1980 pattern, measuring 41mm without the crown and 47mm from lug to lug. Sword hands, a vintage CWC logo and fixed strap bars retain the family’s recognisable character.

All five configurations share a Sellita SW200-1 Top Grade automatic movement, sapphire crystal and 300-metre water-resistance rating. CWC lists each at £2,500. The ceramic bezel has a luminous insert and 60 unidirectional clicks; case thickness is 12.7mm.
The blue dial offers Vintage lume with white hands, or BGW9 with either white or silver hands. Black-dial versions use Light Vintage lume with white or silver hands. BGW9 appears white in daylight and glows blue; the warmer options give the dial a more overtly historical character. All use X1 Super-LumiNova. The photographs show the five combinations rather than five separate model launches.

The useful comparison is CWC’s standard RN300-MT AS120 automatic. It already specifies the same movement grade, sapphire crystal and 300-metre rating. The CD-1 therefore changes materials and presentation more clearly than it changes the underlying mechanical proposition. Its 60-click bezel also differs from the standard watch’s 120-click arrangement: newer does not mean every specification moves in the same direction.
Fixed bars preserve a practical link to the military pattern by accepting pass-through straps. Blue versions come with a navy stretch strap; black versions use a black-and-tan ribbed single-pass strap. CWC also supplies a standard nylon military strap with either colour. Choosing among them is principally a decision about dial contrast, hand finish and the appearance of the lume; no comparative low-light or durability testing is claimed here.
Hodinkee reported the model on 6 November 2026 as a small-batch, non-limited release. CWC’s retrieved product page displays conflicting availability controls, so current stock should be checked for the selected configuration. The exact first-sale date and Belgian delivered price have not been established. This is a specification-based introduction, not a hands-on review.
