The analysis
The M42 Diver 1964 First Edition, reference RE-AU0503N, is part of Orient Star's 2026 programme celebrating 75 years since its 1951 founding. The brand announced the model in February 2026.
The 75th-anniversary M42 reworks the 1964 Olympia Calendar Diver. Its distinctive arrow-shaped hand, broad markers and functional bezel meet a blue-grey dial that darkens towards the edge, evoking star-lit water.
The 41mm watch is fitted with the automatic F6N47 calibre. Orient Star quotes a power reserve of over 50 hours and limits the production to 700 pieces.
The gradient makes the dial atmospheric without replacing the robust minute scale or luminous geometry. With a 14.5mm-thick case it remains an assertive functional sports watch.
Three official images distinguish its graphic proportions, construction, surface finishes and caseback details. Unlike similar models in the same collection, this anniversary watch is defined by its exact reference-specific treatment.
The design reflects a balance between Japanese mechanical-watch tradition and a new astronomical theme. This is a desk-based editorial assessment, not a hands-on accuracy or wearability test.
