The analysis
For its 75th anniversary, Orient Star offers the M34 F8 Skeleton Hand Winding, reference RE-AZ0105N, as a distinct approach to timekeeping and design. It was first announced in 2026-02.
The Perseid meteor shower inspires an exposed calibre with meteorite-like laser-processed finishing. Here the mechanism itself becomes the visual field: bridges, open spaces and the contrasting grey-to-black rings form a composition with genuine depth.
The 39mm watch uses the hand-wound in-house F8B65 calibre and is rated by the brand for over 70 hours of power reserve. The anniversary edition is limited to 430 pieces.
The attraction is a mechanical landscape, not a stone dial. The unavoidable compromise is that the time display must compete with the exposed machinery.
The three manufacturer photographs reveal how the face, case proportions and rear of the watch relate to each other. Each is of the exact reference, not a substituted colorway.
This Chronolume analysis is based on official product specifications and images rather than hands-on examination. Its significance lies in how a historical Japanese mechanical-watch maker translates the language of astronomy, craft and functionality into an individual contemporary object.
