The analysis
For its 75th anniversary, Orient Star offers the M45 F8 Moon Phase, reference RE-BW0008B, as a distinct approach to timekeeping and design. It was first announced in 2026-08.
The Moon Through the Clouds motif gives the 75th-anniversary M45 a serene, almost painted dark sky. Moonlight and subtle cloud textures surround the moon-phase indication, while the power-reserve display maintains a vertical dialogue across the dial.

The 39.5mm watch uses the hand-wound in-house F8A62 calibre and is rated by the brand for over 70 hours of power reserve. The anniversary edition is limited to 140 pieces.
Its restrained imagery allows an astronomical complication to feel intimate rather than technical. But the dark field also makes glance reading less forceful than a simple high-contrast dial.
The three manufacturer photographs reveal how the face, case proportions and rear of the watch relate to each other. Each is of the exact reference, not a substituted colorway.
This Chronolume analysis is based on official product specifications and images rather than hands-on examination. Its significance lies in how a historical Japanese mechanical-watch maker translates the language of astronomy, craft and functionality into an individual contemporary object.
