What to know
The Grand Prix Small Second Purple finds its character in a largely uninterrupted field of colour. The domed purple sunburst dial includes a matching small-seconds register at six, keeping the composition close to monochrome. Polished hands and restrained markers leave the changing reflections across the dial to provide most of the visual interest.

Its polished steel case measures 39mm across and 12.7mm thick, with a double-domed antireflective sapphire crystal and 5 ATM water resistance. Vulcain specifies a Swiss Landeron automatic movement, listed as L24-6, with a 40-hour power reserve and 4Hz frequency. The all-purple configuration covered here belongs to the regular collection; the contrasting silver-register version is a separate limited edition. Together, the proportions and colour show a more understated side of Vulcain than its alarm watches.
