What to know
Zenith introduced reference 49.9500.3600/21.I001 in January 2026, translating the DEFY Skyline Chronograph into a black ceramic case and bracelet. Its angular facets, previously defined partly by steel reflections, read instead as shifts in surface geometry and shadow.

The gradient grey star-patterned dial preserves the three-register chronograph configuration. El Primero 3600 runs at 5 Hz, offers approximately 60 hours of power reserve and allows the central chronograph hand to complete a circuit in ten seconds. The case measures 42mm and is rated to 10 ATM.

Design question: does a darker, more continuous material make DEFY's aggressive geometry easier to understand, or merely more visually imposing? A later editorial comparison should place official steel and ceramic images side by side rather than claim a hands-on result.
