What distinguishes it

Look beyond the reference.

Two series-connected barrels distinguish the energy-storage layout. Omega combines them with bidirectional winding, a free-sprung balance and silicon balance spring. The time-zone function is particularly useful when the local hour needs changing during travel.

For the enthusiast

Compare 8800 rather than assuming every modern three-hand Omega uses the same construction. The cited Planet Ocean is Master Chronometer certified, including magnetic-resistance testing to 15,000 gauss. Its substantial case thickness belongs to the complete dive watch and is not the movement’s thickness.
