Armin Strom Orbit Midnight Purple: a date that only appears when asked

Most date watches reserve part of the dial for a tiny numeral, but the Armin Strom Orbit uses a radically different interaction. A button at ten o'clock moves a central pointer from its parked position to the current date on the fixed ceramic bezel. Press again and it moves out of the way, clearing the composition for the time and the dramatic exposed movement.

The 2026 Midnight Purple version applies a striking smoky violet to both the off-centre dial and, for the first time, the frosted mainplate underneath. It makes the display feel unusually cohesive: the same purple colour runs through the dial and the mechanical depths. A steel bracelet and black ceramic bezel provide a firm technical frame.

The manufacture automatic Calibre ASS20 includes a column-wheel date mechanism and patented equal-force barrel with 72 hours of power reserve. The 43.4mm steel case is water resistant to 5 ATM. Just 20 examples are planned, making this not only an experiment in complication design but a closely controlled colour study.
