What distinguishes it
Look beyond the reference.
When travelling, the local hour can move in hour steps while the minute and seconds hands continue keeping time. A separate hand retains a 24-hour reference. On the GMT-Master II, the rotating bezel supplies another scale for reading that hand.
For the enthusiast
Compare its crown operation with the TMI NH34, whose separately adjusted hand serves a different GMT workflow. The approximately 70-hour reserve describes a fully wound movement, not a promise that occasional wrist motion will always keep it topped up.
