What to know
Bulgari’s Octo Finissimo Ultra Tourbillon reference 104344 is a deliberate contradiction: a watch only 1.85mm thick made from dense platinum. The 40mm case and integrated bracelet use contrasting brushed and polished surfaces, replacing the technical lightness of the earlier titanium edition with a heavier, more jewellery-like presence. Blue PVD-coated hands and a galvanized blue mainplate sharpen the openworked display.

The manual-winding BVL 900 places its tourbillon and timekeeping train across a single ultra-thin plane. It runs at 4Hz and delivers a 42-hour power reserve. Only ten platinum examples will be produced, with a reported launch price of US$785,000. The case dimensions may be extreme, but the finishing and colour treatment make this edition visually richer than a pure engineering exercise.
