G-SHOCK DW-5040RX-7 Clear Remix: the transparent 40th-anniversary square

Among G-SHOCK's many anniversary editions, the Clear Remix collection is one of the boldest demonstrations of how material choice can transform a familiar silhouette. The DW-5040RX-7 recreates the 1983-inspired square in transparent materials, exposing elements that are normally concealed beneath black resin and an opaque digital display.

Casio uses a clear resin case and band with a transparent LCD, allowing a glimpse of the circuit board and a gold-tone internal package carrying commemorative motifs. The markings 'SINCE 1983' and four anniversary stars retain a strong connection to the early G-SHOCK story. By making the case and display transparent, Casio turns a utilitarian watch into an educational glimpse of digital watch construction.

The underlying functions remain recognisably G-SHOCK: shock resistance, 200-metre water resistance, stopwatch, timer, alarm and illumination. A see-through watch also changes the wearer's experience; shadows, skin tone and ambient light become part of the appearance as they pass through the case.
