What to know
From Chongqing, China, independent brand FAM AL HUT approaches watchmaking as kinetic sculpture. Its Möbius Mark 1 looks almost like a miniature mechanical city: an exposed bi-axis tourbillon sits above a pair of retrograde time displays, all packaged inside an elongated, lugless case.

The architecture is more than visual theatre. Its jumping-hour indication combines with retrograde hours and minutes, which return to the beginning of their scales rather than revolving continuously. The tourbillon cage draws on the endlessly looping Möbius strip, giving the watch its name.

The 42.2 × 24.3mm case is just 12.9mm thick across much of its profile, rising to about 17mm at the tourbillon. Inside is the hand-wound M-01T calibre, operating at 21,600 vibrations per hour with a 50-hour power reserve. The brand says each example requires more than 200 hours of hand finishing.

First launched in 2025, the Möbius was listed by the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève at CHF 26,620 including tax and went on to receive the 2025 Audacity Prize. Its strongest statement is how unapologetically different an independent mechanical watch can look while remaining rooted in classical horological complications.
