What to know
Two of industrial design's more recognisable watchmaking approaches come together in the Type 3 MN. Released in December 2025, this 80-piece edition pairs Ressence founder Benoît Mintiens with Australian designer Marc Newson, who helped establish the unconventional Ikepod aesthetic in the 1990s. The rounded titanium housing and integrated pale-grey rubber strap feel more like one continuous object than a conventional case fitted to a bracelet.

The colour scheme is equally deliberate: black rotating hour and indicator discs sit against soft green-grey surfaces, punctuated by small electric-yellow accents. In Ressence fashion, the upper chamber is oil-filled. Removing the usual air gap between display and sapphire sharply reduces optical distortion, making the indications appear almost printed on the surface of the glass.
The mechanical construction is not a smartwatch imitation. The customised self-winding movement transmits motion magnetically to the patented ROCS 3.6 discs, with approximately 36 hours of reserve. The 44 mm grade 5 titanium case houses displays for hours, minutes, day, date and oil temperature. Ressence lists this rare collaboration at €61,000. The Type 3 MN won a Red Dot Best of the Best design distinction in 2026.
