What to know
Belgian watchmaker Alexandre Martin’s first watch is named 1965 after his father’s birth year. The 38mm steel debut pairs a softly textured grey dial with applied markers and a separate small-seconds subdial made from a gold base in enamel specialist Anita Porchet’s workshop. Martin developed the watch after working in specialist ateliers including Greubel Forsey and Petermann Bédat, then became fully independent in 2026.

The hand-wound prototype uses the architecture of a vintage CYMA 586, with redesigned and newly made components, hand-finished bridges, polished bevels and inward angles. Martin says production movements will be newly manufactured rather than built from vintage donor calibres. The first steel series is limited to 12 watches at CHF 65,000, with production expected to take about 18 months. Further twelve-piece editions in platinum and pink gold are planned.
