What to know
The Big Pilot’s Watch Perpetual Calendar Ceralume, reference IW505801, turns IWC’s experimental luminous ceramic into a production watch. Its 46.5mm white ceramic case contains Super-LumiNova pigments, while the dial and rubber strap receive related luminous treatments. In daylight the watch is a study in white and grey; after charging, the case, dial and strap emit a vivid blue glow for more than 24 hours.

IWC’s automatic calibre 52616 adds a seven-day power reserve to the Kurt Klaus perpetual calendar. Date, weekday, month, moon phase and four-digit year are coordinated mechanically, with the Double Moon display accurate to one day in 577.5 years. The glowing Probus Scafusia rotor medallion extends the material concept to the movement side. Production is limited to 250 pieces.
