What to know
Few watches communicate their functions as boldly as the LIP Mach 2000. French industrial designer Roger Tallon originally conceived the model in 1975, freeing the familiar round watch face from its usual symmetrical metal case. A stark black semicircular housing, sculpted into an elongated rectangular form, gives each of the three chronograph controls its own brightly coloured ball. The yellow, blue and red elements are not decoration alone: they turn the stopwatch into an immediately recognisable, tactile interface.
Reference 670080 is a modern recreation produced in Besançon. Its 42 × 40 mm case carries a matte-black dial, white hands and a black rubber strap. The Ronda 5021 quartz calibre drives the chronograph, including a 30-minute counter, small seconds and date; water resistance is 5 ATM. Priced at €349 on LIP’s official website, the Mach 2000 is a strong reminder that a memorable watch need not be mechanically complex. This is an existing design reissue, not a newly announced October 2026 watch.
