Mondaine’s black-strap Doppio Solar brings Bauhaus-like clarity to a light-powered watch

Mondaine's Doppio Solar is a study in quiet graphic design. A concave dial, double-line indexes and slender hands create the sense of layered geometry rather than the railway-station simplicity usually associated with the Swiss brand. The black vegan grape-leather strap, produced using waste from wine making, adds an understated texture to the steel case.

The watch runs on a Ronda 215 solar-quartz movement that captures natural and artificial light through its dial. Mondaine states that the rechargeable cell can operate for approximately eight months in darkness when fully charged. The 41 mm stainless-steel case is 8.5 mm thick, has a double-domed anti-reflective sapphire crystal, date function and 50-metre water resistance.
