What to know
The Bambino is famous for affordable Japanese automatic movements, but Orient's 2025 solar-powered 38 is an important addition to the design story. The RA-WK0004L preserves the polished steel case, highly curved mineral crystal and elegant Roman-numeral dial while replacing the traditional automatic movement with the light-charged VS213 quartz calibre.

That difference changes the ownership experience. The watch runs for around six months on a full charge and does not need to be wound after a weekend off the wrist. At 38.4mm across and around 43.5mm lug to lug, the solar-powered case is wearable and slightly slimmer than its mechanical relatives. The dark blue dial, silver markers and brown apple-derived synthetic leather strap retain the formal personality of a conventional Bambino.

The movement is solar quartz, not a solar-assisted automatic: the hands are electrically driven and the visible rotor of an automatic is absent. Purists may choose a mechanical reference, but this version argues that Bambino's strength is its industrial design, not any single movement technology.
