What to know

Otsuka Lotec’s No. 5 KAI revisits the maker’s 2012 No. 5 with a redesigned satellite-hour system. Rotating numeral discs pass fixed minute tracks, while a ball-bearing roller triggers an instantaneous switch twice per hour. A continuously moving seconds disc at 5 o’clock adds visible motion. The 316L steel case measures 40.5 mm across and 7.6 mm thick, or 12.2 mm including the tall box sapphire crystal.

Its Miyota 90S5 automatic base carries an in-house satellite-hour module with 25 jewels and two ball bearings. The movement runs at 28,800 vibrations per hour and offers approximately 40 hours of reserve. Water resistance is 3 ATM, the calfskin strap is 22 mm wide, and the current Japanese price is JPY 825,000 including tax.
