What to know
Seiko's Presage HCC006J1, unveiled in August and made available in September 2026, translates the historic Laurel-inspired dial into a striking black-and-gold composition. Traditional Japanese urushi lacquer gives the dial a subtly reflective depth, while gold-coloured Arabic numerals and an inset 24-hour subdial provide a vintage flavour. The case is gold-colour-plated steel, not solid gold.
The HCC006 shares the calibre 6R5H automatic architecture with its white-enamel sibling HCC005: manual winding, hacking seconds and a three-day power reserve. A 39.6mm case, dual-curved sapphire and brown leather strap complete the design. Seiko specifies splash resistance, and its Belgian retail listing is €1,640. The craftsmanship of the dial is the defining feature here; tiny variations in the hand-finished surface make individual watches subtly different.
