What to know

Otsuka Lotec’s No. 8 translates the controls of a recording-studio mixing console into a mechanical time display. A jumping-hour channel occupies the left side, while a minute fader advances to 60 before returning slowly to zero through a flywheel-controlled retrograde mechanism. Above it, a seconds disc completes one rotation every 90 seconds. The 316L steel case measures 31 mm wide, 47.8 mm long and 10.8 mm thick.

A Miyota 90S5 automatic movement drives Otsuka Lotec’s 62-part module. The assembly uses 33 jewels plus three ball bearings, runs at 28,800 vibrations per hour and provides approximately 32 hours of reserve. The watch is rated to 3 ATM, fitted to a 24 mm rubber strap and priced at JPY 1,089,000 including Japanese tax.
