What to know
The Otsuka Lotec No. 9 packs five complications into a 48 by 30 mm steel-and-sapphire case: jumping hours, rewinding minutes, a tourbillon, hour striking and a power-reserve indication. At each full hour, the hour disc jumps, the minute disc rewinds and a hammer strikes the pipeline-shaped gong. The case reaches 13 mm at its thickest point and is rated to 3 ATM.

Jiro Katayama’s hand-wound Calibre SSGT contains 278 components, 30 jewels and five ball bearings. It runs at 18,000 vibrations per hour and stores approximately 40 hours of power. The movement uses a free-sprung balance and custom ruby-ball bearings developed with MinebeaMitsumi. Price is JPY 17,600,000 including Japanese tax.
