What to know
Rolex's September 2026 Perpetual Padellone is a major move into calendar complications. Drawing its name from the vintage reference 8171, the 39mm creation introduces an annual calendar that instantly changes the day, date and month together at midnight.
Its patented Haplos mechanism accounts for 30- and 31-day months, so the calendar ordinarily needs correction only when February turns to March. A moonphase display at six o'clock adds a more poetic dimension to the otherwise orderly dial.

The platinum reference 53506-0002 has Rolex's signature ice-blue dial and a black alligator strap. Calibre 7190 beats at 5Hz and introduces technical advances that Rolex says are covered by multiple patent applications.
Combining traditional calendar typography with genuinely new movement architecture, the Perpetual Padellone is an important 2026 launch rather than a simple dial update.
