What to know
A watch rarely becomes essential to a film’s emotional logic. Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar (2014) is the exception. Cooper leaves his daughter Murphy a Hamilton watch that later becomes vital to communicating information across time. The object carries the film’s ideas about distance, love and the possibility of reunion without needing a line of explanatory dialogue every time it appears.
Hamilton developed a custom prop for the production and launched the 42 mm Khaki Field Murph for customers in 2019. Reference H70605731 is the most direct tribute to that screen watch, with a black dial, warm-toned Arabic numerals, cathedral-style hands and a black leather strap. The automatic H-10 movement provides around 80 hours of reserve. The seconds hand spells “Eureka” in Morse code, a detail created for fans attentive to the story.

The Murph’s attraction cannot be reduced to its movement or dial. Its design is quiet enough to be worn every day while containing a private reference to one of cinema’s most emotional timekeeping moments. The later 38 mm variants are different models, and not all repeat the Morse-code hand. Read how cinema gives watches lasting meaning.
